Edinburgh is an incredibly entrepreneurial city with a thriving startup ecosystem! There are business competitions, events, workshops, courses, free 1-to-1 business support, incubators, co-working spaces, considerable government support, angel investors, networking groups and more.

The University of Edinburgh offers excellent support for entrepreneurship which is all free, including:

Entrepreneurship Club

A 3,000+ member networking club hosted by the Business School and open to everyone interested in all things entrepreneurship. We also run two pitching competitions with cash prizes to be won at the annual Startup Festival, held in March.

Launch.ed

The University of Edinburgh student company formation service. It offers 1-to-1 business support, training, mentoring, fundraising advice and competitions.

Informatics Ventures

Supports globally ambitious technology companies headquartered in Scotland. They manage the annual investor showcase event ‘Engage, Invest, Exploit’ each May.

Edinburgh Centre for Carbon Innovation (ECCI)

The ECCI runs a range of projects and initiatives that get businesses, organisations, individuals and systems investigating new ways of working towards a low-carbon future.

Edinburgh Innovations

The Innovation Management Service for the University of Edinburgh. With partners, they explore opportunities, build ideas and deliver results for industry and the University of Edinburgh. They do this by promoting the research, technology and facilities at the University and use their expertise to manage and develop industry partnerships.

SIE’s aim is to make enterprise and entrepreneurship accessible to all students in Scotland.
